Hi Bob,

Thanks for the comments. I read your 3830 report - great job. You, me
and Dan were pretty much in a dead heat.

I was wondering about the Unlimited category. I know that it allows you
to monitor the clusters and skimmer for mults but do you also use it to
find new non-mult stations to work? It seems to me that one really does
not need much help in finding mults in Sweepstakes (especially if you do
SO2R) because most ops have to do a lot of S&P and a decent full-time op
will find most mults without help. How much do you think being
Unlimited helps you?

VO1HP had a big pileup when I came across him on Sunday afternoon. I got
through pretty easily since he was loud and I had a good path to him.
Later on, I heard him CQing on 20 meters with no takers and later
another VO1 called me. That was the toughest mult for me this year.

There was something on CQ contest about VY1EI. Someone was planning to
operate his station remotely but they had trouble setting up the
equipment and only got on late in the contest. The message noted that
VY1EI was without an Internet connection for several months. Can you
imagine being without the Internet for such a long time? As you may
remember, N6TR operated his station last year and made well over 1,000
contacts.

I agree about those guys who leave their callsign out of the exchange.
I can't imagine why they do it. It must slow them down when many guys
keep asking for repeats.

It's a little scary to see how many guys were sending Checks from the
1950's and 1960's. What's going to happen to this contest when we all
go SK?

CU in the next one, Bob.

73, Hal W1NN
