Hello all,
Back at the christmas party a few of us were talking about antenna ideas. Of course I dont remember who all was in that conversation. One of the common themes that came up was the need for multiband monobanders on shared booms.
Jim Breakall recently designed an amazing tribander for WP3R and W3TX. We will be field testing two different versions of it this winter at both qth's. There are some groundbreaking concepts involved that are really cool.
It has three optimized long-boom, 6 element monobanders for 10, 15, and 20m on a 52ft boom. Three feedlines with 50 ohm feed, and gain, pattern, and F/B performance that is just slightly less than individual monobanders. I anticipate one version to weigh 350lbs. The other will be about 130lbs.
W3YQ and I started preparing my tower for this antenna this weekend and he will be back in a few weeks to put it up.
If anyone is interested in such an antenna, or in coming by when we are raising it in early October, let me know.
Best regards,
Scott W3TX
