[NCC] [MRRC] MFJ DAY at DX Engineering

 I won't be there, but somebody might put a word in MFJ's ear about quality control on their MFJ-1979 extendable 17 foot whip.

W1NN had such an antenna which saw duty in HI, W4, SV9, and probably a few places Hal had it before then. In SV9 it died, probably after having being around too much salt water.

So I recently ordered two of them from HRO, one for Hal and one for me.? (Sorry DXE, I also needed something else I couldn't find there). Hal had warned be to check them upon receipt as he had encountered a bad one when he had ordered his. I checked, and sure enough one of them was defective, the joint about 65" from the top was locked up.

I sent it back to HRO, who sent me another, and sure enough, same problem at the same spot.

I haven't yet taken on the task of getting yet another one. Not sure whether to keep bothering HRO or to go straight to MFJ. It might depend if either or both will be at the Orlando Hamfest. 

But in the meanwhile, please let MFJ know why they are known by another meaning of their initials.
