[NCC] Looking for Abrasion-Resistant Rope

Hal, I have used the STI rope for over 25 years in my trees. I have only had
one failure because I waited too long to replace it. I have several that are
over the top of the tree so that allows some 'spring' action while others
loop over branches. I leave them fairly loose and provide strain relief with
bungee cords. I use the larger diameter ropes and have had good luck.

Subject: [NCC] Looking for Abrasion-Resistant Rope

Hi All,

Most of my antennas are supported by trees. The support rope typically
goes over a branch and chafes as the wind moves the tree back and
forth. I have had poor luck with the STI-type rope that has the black
outer jacket. The branches wear through this jacket in no time. Then
the jacket bunches up and sometimes it is almost impossible to get the
rope out of the tree to replace it. I have one such situation right
now that was installed less than a year ago.

Does anyone have a good suggestion for a strong, jacket-less support rope?

Thanks!

73, Hal W1NN
