On Saturday we operated a 1930s style FD setup at my QTH using the club
call W8CDX. The exciter and amplifier were straight out of the
July/August 1931 QST, possibly the same transmitter setup used by
stations in the first FD in 1933. Receiver was an HRO-5TA1 (post WW2
model). About 100W output through a homebrew link coupled, balanced
tuner to a open wire fed 80M doublet up 45-50 ft. I finished the
amplifier at 1AM on Saturday morning, never powered it up until that
afternoon, was glad there were no surprises or smoke! We operated on 40M
only, had a total of 153 QSOs.
Everyone that stopped had a good time. We worked a few NCC/MRRC buddies:
KW8N
W8CAR
K1LT
Links to a couple videos taken by Mike, WA3TTS, who came up from
Pittsburgh for the afternoon:

The second video captured a couple QSOs on 40M with N8BC and W8EDU
clipping along. Next year, we'll use a footswitch to make T/R easier.
