[NCC] Headphone questions

First question:
I have been using a Heil Pro 7 set of headphones for the past few years.
I like the ambient noise reduction compared to other Heil Pro type headphones from the past, especially when using amplifiers with noisy fans.  The issue I had over the OHQP weekend was wires breaking in the cable where it attaches to the headphones, right in the connector that is referred to as a 6 pin mini XLR.  (I probably tugged on it too many times.) Fixed the right ear (red wire)  Friday night.  But never checked the microphone portion again until the OHQP had already started.  Started on CW but later when went to phone had no mic function.  The white wire was broken, so found an old pair of headphones only and operated CW with those while fixing the Pro 7 mic wire.  (Never did put the shell back on the cable end, in the interest of time just taped it to microphone boom as a "strain relief".)

I can put it all back together, but would feel more comfortable with a new cable assembly.  Having a hard time finding that as a replacement part.
"Military spec cable system using 6-pin mini XLR and fiber reinforced cable"  the other end is two miniature phone plugs, one for mic and one for headphones.



Second question:
What is your opinion as to headphones with boom mics.  Inrad has a new one?  Has anyone tried that one?  Any that you like better than Pro 7?
