Worked 18 of the 24 other team members; heard K2UA, W2FU, and W9PA but no QSOs. AF8A beat me out to somebody, and then heard somebody else calling him when he finished.

I figured the high bands were tough up north when I went to 80 and was close to or ahead of many of the W8 folks. As noted below, 40 was not great down here, but did have its moments. Heard W8WTS up there a number of times after working him earlier, but not many others. But never heard Jim on 80.

Stay warm!

Comments:

I had planned to operate from K5KG, but a last minute issue came up there so I
operated from the condo: CushCraft D4 dipole in the attic (about 25 ft AGL at
the peak) and a 50 foot vertical wire in an outside tree with a minimal ground
system. The indoor antenna is pretty noisy, but since I'm pretty weak it likely
does not impact my score much.

I suppose I did a bit better than I expected. The 46 mults was as good or better
than many other sprints. KL7, KH6, KP2, and XE were the DX mults. Amazing
differences in propagation over short distances or short time spans, especially
on 40. NO3M could be booming while guys a hundred miles away in Ohio (about the
same distance from me) were barely audible. And not much later NO3M would be
weak.
