Field Day is pretty much ingrained in our brains as running from 1800Z Saturday until 1800Z Sunday. But it actually runs until 2059Z on Sunday, though since most FD setups start at the 1800Z start, they quit at 1800Z Sunday.
The rule:
3.2. Stations who begin setting up before 1800 UTC Saturday may work only 24 consecutive hours, commencing when on-the-air operations begin.
With many more of us likely operating from home this year, not as part of a club distributed effort, should you not be around at the 1800Z start, feel free to keep going until 24 hours after your actual start time. Things do get pretty slow after 1800Z, but for some people, such as CW newcomers, this might be a feature, not a bug.
Not sure what I'll be doing for FD. One thought is to set up the 33 Foot Hamstick (or maybe a 43 Foot Hamstick) on the minivan in the driveway and run QRP off a big (for QRP) battery.
Good luck and have fun whatever you might be doing!
