Sorry to my team mates for the poor showing.

The comments in my 3830 report below only tell part of the story.  Just
before going to bed about 7 hours before the contest, I got an email
from my bank stating that they processed an ACH withdrawal for over
$1,100 for my water company.   This was on the date when they usually
deduct $31 for two months of water service.  It took about 2
milliseconds to realize that this could be a major problem.  Naturally
this happened on the Friday evening of a three day holiday.

I won't bore you with the long story of the next few hours, but I did
manage to reach someone at the water company emergency line (a miracle
in itself) and arranged for someone to visit the next morning and shut
the water off at the street.  Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep
before the contest as visions of a basement full of water danced through
my head all night long.

The good news is that I got my brother to drive in from out if town to
check the basement, and - no water!  I'm not sure where the leak is, or
if there actually is a leak, but at least it is not inside the house.
Fingers crossed that it is a billing error.

A night with no sleep and a really bad internet connection were not  the
best circumstances in which to operate a contest, and I didn't last very
long.

Really nice scores from my other teammates.

Comments:

The worst Internet connection I've ever experienced made this a really
impossible experience. The connection was interrupted almost every second,
making it really hard to copy calls and info. Often I had to listen to
four or
five contacts before I could figure out the correct call and exchange.
Stations
didn't seem to have trouble with my info, so it was pretty much just a
receive
problem.
On top of that, my 40 meter dipole, which used to work pretty well on 15 and
somewhat well on 20 and 10, was showing an intermittent high SWR, so I
think it
is pretty ill. This antenna is supported in the middle by a dead tree and I
realized some time ago that it was only a matter of time before it fails. It
still seems to work on 40 though.

This is a favorite event, so I was really bummed out that I couldn't operate
normally.
