It is with a heavy heart that I report (from the Daily DX) long time North
Coast Contester and K8AZ op - John, N8AA is SK. 

 

RIP W8QXQ & N8AA

 

N8AA, John S. Comella, passed away September 16 at the age of 86.  
He was at home, after a brief illness.  John was born in Cleveland, 
Ohio September 5, 1939.  He got a business degree from the 
University of Dayton in 1961 and joined the US Navy that year.  He 
was an officer aboard the USS Tulare and then the USS Rupertus.  He 
retired from the Navy in 1965 and then went to law school, becoming 
a government attorney for 20 years.  He started into amateur radio 
at the age of 14 when he built his own radio In his parents' 
basement.  An early callsign of his was W8QXQ.  He was on a DX trip 
to the Cayman Islands in 1977, and St. Paul Island in 2016.  
Friends are Invited to a "Mass of Christian Burial" at 10:30 AM 
tomorrow at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd., Fairfield, OH  
45014.  The burial is at the Mount Olivet Saint Mary Catholic 
Cemetery, 400 S. Locus St., Oxford, Ohio, 45056.
