Congratulations to K8FF for making a contact with K8YSE
via the International Space Station Repeater. Wayne was
mobile at the time. The frequencies are 437.800 up and
145.800 down. K8YSE was remoting his station so the
contact was from EN91 to EN91.

The ISS repeater has been on for the most part during the
past few weeks. It is turned off whenever there are school
contacts, EVA's, a supply ship dock etc. If you don't hear
packet on 145.825, the repeater is likely to be on.

This is a great opportunity for everyone to make a satellite
contact as the ISS is one big satellite in the sky. The ISS
has a powerful transmitter making it easier to hear from a
mobile with just whip antennas. They have the squelch up
tight so you do need some power to get in.

As always, make sure you are hearing others on the repeater
before you try to transmit. Calling on top of someone because
you can't hear is equivalent to transmitting on the dx frequency
when they are working split. The difference is that there are
no dx police; no one will say anything because they know you
can't hear anyway.

You can see where the ISS is by going to www.amsat.org They have
a tracking program so you can see where any satellite is and the
AOS/LOS times for your location. Just use your grid square for
your location. There is more info on the site regarding the ISS
modes etc.

Hope to hear some NODXA members on the ISS. Contact K8FF if you
need help.
