All,

Although I have not yet submitted our score, our preliminary
results are that we have 6702 qso points and 1270 bonus points
for a total score of 7972.

We had 4984 points in 2008 and 4720 points in 2007. Our score
this year was a big improvement over the last two years thanks
to the hard work of all participants. Great job!

The ARRL considers all satellite contacts as one band. If you
work a station on phone on AO51, you cannot work that station
on phone again on AO7, for example. We made 27 satellite phone
contacts but there were only 22 unique calls. We made 15 satellite
CW contacts but only with 10 unique callsigns.

AMSAT, on the other hand, considers each satellite transponder as
a separate band. Therefore we have 27 phone and 15 CW satellite
contacts for our AMSAT submission. I hope that the ARRL will
consider a field day rule change that would consider each satellite
transponder as a separate band. This would help to increase
activity on the ssb/cw/digital birds. AMSAT and ARRL rules
limit each station to just one contact per FM transponder since
there is only one qso that can be made at a time. The SSB/CW birds
allow many qso's to take place simultaneously. It is very
difficult to make an FM qso during field day due to the multitude
of stations trying to access the bird during a pass over the US.

I am still looking for pictures of our field day operation, especially
ones showing KD8CAO operating the satellite station. We want to send
those to AMSAT. Someone out there took some; we just have to determine
who it was. If you know, please contact me.

Thanks again to all who participated!

73,
John K8YSE
