Those that were in attendance at the NODXA
April meeting on Monday, April 5th, witnessed a
demonstration of the AO-51 Low Earth Orbit Satellite.
K8YSE worked through the satellite by controlling his
home station via the internet and made several contacts
on the 2348z far western pass of AO-51. The maximum
elevation of the bird was only 10 degrees but the signals
were loud and clear.
A recording was made of the pass and can be downloaded at:
http://www.papays.com/sat (Select Everyday Audio Recordings.)
All of the audio, both tx and rx, is coming directly from the bird.
The system is full duplex so you can always hear yourself and know that
you are getting into the bird.
There are many other recordings on the website and some gridmaps
showing what some active operators have worked. Info about
the recent K4T Dry Tortugas dxpedition can also be found there.
Enjoy.

John K8YSE
