[Nodxa] 2 meter intruder?

A few days ago I dialed up the 145.35 repeater in Sharon, PA for a trip  
down there. While still in Cleveland I was hearing some sort of digital signal 
 there, with in an intermittent on-off cycle. The same thing was there  
yesterday, and tonight I again found if from home. If my 2 meter beam still has 
 proper pattern that high in the band (it's tuned for 144.2) it is peaking 
at  about 285 degrees from my QTH in Orange Village. 
 
I assume this is some sort of spur from a commercial TX - I'm not familiar  
with any amateur mode like this, and assume if there was it would not be 
using  the frequency of an active repeater 65 miles away.
 
Any one else care to check this out?  And feel free to pass along the  
inquiry to other more FM oriented folks around town.
