I don't intend to give you a status update every day. But just to let you
know this one more time:

The last time I wrote, LOTW was about 9 to 10 days behind in processing
logs. I didn't record exact numbers.
Tonight it is still about 10 days behind. But to be more specific:

In approximately 11 hours of real time listed a few minutes ago, the size of
the queue has increased by 5 hours and 56 minutes, approximately,
from 9 days 19 hours 5 minutes to 10 days 1 hour 01 minutes. The number in
logs in the queue has increased from 28512 to 29527.
That is, at this time the logs are arriving at a rate of about 92 an hour in
excess of the processing rate. Also increasing is the
database size on their hard drives. One can assume that as the size of the
database grows, it takes longer and longer per QSO to access
the records to see if there is a match. Maybe the authors of the database
software have turned on indexing to speed things up a bit.

And tomorrow the processing will continue to run but the uploading of logs
will be stalled while the IT folks run some system maintenance
tasks. This was announced on the LOTW web pages.

Now since some, but not all, logs are emailed to LOTW, the number of logs
will continue to backup in some email servers somewhere
during that maintenance period, even though direct entry on the web will be
halted during the maintenance period.

I think one can presume that the arrival of logs depends on how many
contests have occurred recently, how many big time Dxpeditions
have occurred recently, and so forth. Perhaps after Stew Perry, NA QSO
parties, SKN, RTTY contests, the CQ 160m contests,
the ARRL International DX, and the CQ PFX SSB contest, and a few others,
there will be some slack time for LOTW to catch up?
