It is with great sadness to report that John, W8BE, became a Silent
Key (SK)..... The following was in the Plain Dealer today and online.
In the old days of DXing before DXClusters and the InterNet, John was
very active on the NOARS 145.150 repeater helping others work DX. He

MARHEFKA JOHN MARHEFKA SR., age 101. Beloved husband of Mary (nee 
Ostasevich) (deceased); loving father of John A. (Kathy) and Nancy 
Heinisch (Robert); dear grandfather of five; great-grandfather of two. 
John was a Radio Operator during the 1930's on the Great Lakes with the 
Sparks Transmittor. ALL SERVICES Monday, Dec. 22, 2014 at St. Theodosius 
Orthodox Cathedral, 733 Starkweather Ave., Cleveland, OH at 10 a.m. 
Interment St. Theodosius Cemetery. FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS AT THE
