Hello,

I received a 9 p.m. call from Barbara Moriarty that Al, N8CX, passed
away around 5 p.m. today. He was in hospice at O'Neill Healthcare Bay
Village for the last week or so. Look for more information if any
obituaries are published.

I first met Al around the first week of March, 1972, when I returned to
civilian employment after a 2.5 year stint in the Army. Although I knew
of the existence of West Park Radiops from listings in one of the
standard amateur radio magazines, it was Al who learned from somewhere
of the actual club meeting location and times. So due to his suggestion
we both went to the same meeting together on the first Friday in
November 1977. Al served as West Park Radiops club president and
sometimes the Field Day chairman and perhaps I have forgotten if he ever
held other officer positions. For some time he has been the license
trustee of the NOARS repeater call sign K8KRG (and their Field Day
chairman?). He was until recently a member and past secretary of the
Northern Ohio DX Association. He also was active in the Hamfest
Association of Cleveland a few years ago.
