[Orion] RIT/XIT in Orion

Jay, I know this isn't exactly what you want to do, but I run a pair
of Orions at N5TW during some contests, and here's what I've come to
do. The only time this doesn't work is during the 160 contest when I
occasionally use the subreceiver for diversity, and it won't work if
you're trying to do SO2R with one Orion (can that really be done?). I
don't use a POD, and I set my run frequency in the A VFO. Then I
receive on the B VFO and use that HUGE, easy to find in the dark, VFO
B knob for de facto RIT. Once the QSO is finished, clearing the RIT
is simply done by hitting the A>B button - which is the top right
button on the front panel and very hard to miss hit. This is the way
I run my Orion at home too, so it's very natural during the heat of
battle.

Thanks, Jim.
I own the N4PY software for the rig, and am not a power user yet. But
will have a look. But I am not sure this solves my situation, think
about contesting and running a logging program like TR or NA,
etc...DOS applications. I want to be running guys on my frequency and
adjusting the RIT to copy guys calling. I can not be running N4PY at
the same time.
I wonder if TEN TEC might add it in a future release.
Jay
