Hi Folks:

For those of you who are checking every day to see if there is anything new?
There is (sort of). Just heard from the Service Manager, Paul Clinton.
Guess what? Thats right! Couldnt find a thing wrong with it! Could not
reproduce the failure that existed when he (Paul) and I worked on it over
the phone. I did get a custom alignment and very complete performance check
out of my 100 dollar shipping charge. They cooked it for 24 hours of
alternate xmit and recieve, utter perfection! So its on the way back
tomorrow. I should see it towards the end of next week.

Had a couple of similair scenarios with past radios. Both Icom. They
couldnt find a thing! When I sent them in, both were hard failures. However
both of them worked fine when I got them back and I had no further
problems.

Make one wonder doesnt it?

Still ORION but a different facet. As Ive mentioned and youve probably
heard from a dozen places? The gain control and AGC systems are radically
different than anything else you ever used. (unless you built it yourself)
Jim, N7US, gave me a source for an explanation of these functions and many
other ORION "differences". Its called, appropriately enough, "Using
ORIONS Reciever" by Sinisa Hristov, YT1NT
Jim can furnish the Internet source. This paper is just plain SUPER. It
answered about every question I had, and I had a lot of them! Tentec should
include it or at least excerpts from it with every ORION they ship. The
Tentec manual does not do much to help you understand the radio. It does
tell you its different! BUT you find that out pretty quick anyway.

Stay tuned?
