Don't know about 1.xxx, but it happens on the O-II (2.031)also.  As you
described it.

Also, if you narrow bandwidth until the 2.4 Khz roofing filter kicks in, the
spurious signal shifts a bit, with zero beat seeming to occur at about 3752
-- but I'll bet it's 3752.4.  Still tunes backward.  It seems weaker,
however, and quite hard to hear since you have to listen for it under the
primary tone.  It occurs pretty much anywhere -- I also checked some 7 and
14 Mhz spots, with the same result.  If you use the other sideband,
everything moves in the opposite direction.

Hmmmm... 

Easier to hear if you run a stronger signal into the radio from a generator.
