[Orion] Orion II Speech Processor

Hello Orion Fans:
 
This is probably an old subject, but has anyone worked out settings which allow the speech processor to significantly raise the average talk power of the radio?  My Orion II does about 90 watts PEP, with an average of about 20 watts with the processor on.  In my experience, this is not typical of a competition grade transceiver.
 
What must I be doing wrong?  How can I correct this problem?  I would have hoped for an average power of about 45 or 50 watts like I obtain from my Mark V.
