[Orion] no PTT

The same has happened to my ORION recently too.  I am running Version
1.372 software.  I was operating a contest and it was the first time
using a footswitch configured with a HEIL headset and adapter for ORION.
I purchased the HEIL headset and adapter from a fellow ham leaving the
hobby, whom had been using it on his ORION for over a year and it worked
fine.  It worked great through the contest, however, the next day when I
turned the radio on I discovered I had no PTT from either the foot
switch nor the microphone PTT button.  Subsequently I disconnected the
foot switch and put the original Heil Ten Tec microphone back on the
radio and no change, still no PTT.  

CW works fine and keys the radio as it should for CW.  The paddle will
also key the radio in SSB mode when configured to do so in the menu.
PTT works fine in RTTY mode as well.  Just can't key the radio with the
PTT button on microphone or footswitch.  Also, PTT works fine when using
the aux PTT jack on the back of the ORION.

I am still searching for a solution and have not taken the radio apart
to examine the microphone connector jack from the inside.  Using a
jumper wire to provide a closed connection across the PTT microphone
pins (external) would not key the radio either.  I have looked at the
schematic and can't see any components connected on the inside of the
mike jack that could contribute to this problem.

I hope to take the cover off this week if I have some time and examine
the microphone connector from the inside if I can get to it.  I'm hoping
to find a bad connection or broken ground wire on the internal side.

I should have added that I have checked all menus as well, multiple
times, and can't see anything in there that might have changed states or
causing the problem.  

I'll let you know if I come across a solution.  Please let me know if
you find one as well.  Good luck.

just a switch  open or closed  what stupid setup did TenTec use ???
