The FOC 80th Anniversary Challenge is in full swing, activity levels are high even if band conditions aren't as good as we'd like.

 

I'd like to thank everyone for their activity so far. Great going everyone!

 

We currently have 226 stations uploading to Club Log and counting for points in the challenge. It would be great to see more uploads. If you have trouble, or are paper logging and need help to transcribe please get in touch.

 

Do remember that when we are operating during an event like this we are showing the best of FOC and though we do not prescribe operating styles there are things we can do to be more inclusive. One such example is how we handle duplicate QSOs. My personal recommendation is to work all callers politely and efficiently, even if you know they've worked you before on that band. 

 

There have been some minor updates to the 'rules' - notably to clarify that 5MHz isn't part of the challenge as not everyone has access to that band. A lot of folks have copied the original rules to their individual QRZ.com pages, which can cause confusion. We, or rather Gabor S57WJ, will be putting together a special edition of FOCUS for the 80th Anniversary. Please consider writing up your operating experiences this month and send them to Gabor via usual means. I'll be writing up about my time as GB80FOC and GC4FOC for sure.

 

Most importantly have fun, I've had some good feedback from non-members about the challenge.
