No surprise in that letter.  I would be surprised if a human had anything to 
do with its generation.  

Lots of (all?) congressional offices work that way.  In your case, your two 
senators in CA represent as many people as about 30 senators from the teeny 
weeney states combined represent.

I've occasionally considered writing my representatives about something like 
the  "Gay Marriage Tax", just to see how their mail answering computers would 
respond.
