Take a step back from the ECM issue for a moment...and consider what might happen if you implemented  Zigbee (802.15.4)...and/or homeplug...and wound up with a smart house which permitted energy management--load levelling in high demand periods in exchange for lower rates--plus remote monitoring capability--plus outage & cet. tracking, and remote metering.... and then sweetened the deal by providing the customer with wideband access.
At what price would energy have to be, to make that make sense?    Oil at $50 a bbl?    $60?
