I wouldn't disagree with your comments on appropriate use of the list.
 Actually, at lists.contesting.com, which is where many people would
look, there is no description of purpose.  It is at
http://www.contesting.com/FAQ/rfi .  I had to look twice to find it. 
Someone googling for help on an RFI problem would easily find this
list.

Personally, I'd expect this list to be mainly for and about ham radio
RFI (incoming or outgoing), but I have no problem with interesting
problems showing up from other domains, commercial or otherwise, as
long as we don't get flooded.  They can be technically informative,
and maybe some folks will have useful suggestions.

For more specialized help, there are lots of other Internet resources.
 I've been intrigued by what goes on at http://www.eng-tips.com , for
example.

If the group wants to be more restrictive, we should consider changing
the name to "amateur RFI" or whatever.
