In one of the webpages I referred to the other day, they advise against
using CFLs with Radio Shack's "Plug-N-Power" system, which is Radio Shack's
re-branding of X10.  (The webpage did not mention X10 specifically.)

The reason is that the X10 devices send a small trickle current through the
load (for continuity sensing), and this may shorten the life of the CFL.
