Is "Lights of America" a rip-off brand, or are they worthy of consideration?

Years ago we had a Lights of America ~8" fluorescent tube with a screw base
fixture.  They are ever so slightly smaller than the standard 8" fluorescent
tubes, so you had to get *their* replacement, which was a problem because
they stopped being carried by the stores that had sold them.  Eventually
(some 6? years ago), Home Depot picked them up.

Not sure whether to trust them or not.
