Toyota (ne Scion) sent me a nice letter telling me where I should run the control and DC cabling in my `09 Scion xB. To enlighten you, all cabling is ran on the right side of the vehicle they also suggest that the rf generator be kept away from the front of the car, not close to either drive and passenger seats and the like.
Am very pleased with the mobile X box, cannot hear any computer noise or the like on 2mtr, 70cm.

I've been driving a 99 4-Runner since 2002 (After a GMC Gimmy pulled out
in front of my TA on the highway. Put the right front wheel back to the
seat and all the antennas pointed straight forward) I've been running
144 and 440 FM in there since day one. Briefly I tried an Icom 7000 and
didn't notice any noise. OTOH I tired a "Cab forward" Chrysler with the
V-6 and the computer could be heard for over a city block. Just the
computer than came with that engine caused problems. I can be within 2
miles of the repeater and one of those still over rides it with a
discrete signal on 147.00. I think that was a problem for just that year
and maybe the year after. (02 and 03)
I'd purchase another 4-Runner if I needed one although I'd check it out
as they have made a substantial model chance since mine.
