For many folks, home heating and cooling costs swamp the remaining monthly 
use charges of electronic appliances.  I recently had an energy audit 
conducted by my local utility.  This home use a total of three HVAC units, 
totalling 12 tons and two 80 gallon hot water heaters.  My network of seven 
PCs, business-class server, and radio shack equipment made up less than a 
couple percent of the total monthly energy cost.  Until I move to a more 
moderate climate and the home has some extremely good energy conservation 
characteristics, I'll continue to use linear supplies and incandescent 
lights.
