Hi Mack,
I haven't been following the thread so forgive me if these suggestions have already been made. 
You proved that your noise is being picked up by the antenna and not entering the radio via the power leads. Try finding the source of noise in the car and choking THAT. Use your radio and a piece of coax with a small loop at the end as a sniffer. Good luck & 73, Tim W2UI
