[RFI] AT&T U-Verse RFI?

At least some of the DirecTV DVRs allow one to connect an eSATA external 
drive, but it *replaces* the internal drive rather than adds to the 
internal one's capacity. And the external drive cannot then even be 
transferred to another DirecTV box, because the drive is "married to" 
the original box and will be reformatted if detected by another box.
