[RFI] Receiver settings for hearing RFI?

The experience of two hams that used one of these and myself who wound up 
with it...  Garbage.  No, not defective, but no selectivity, no directivity. 
Although one would think it works in theory, in real world operation, it 
picked up noise great, in all directions, equally well, rendering it 
useless.  Last I heard the receiver was on a shelf somewhere and the antenna 
scrapped for other antenna experiments.  The noise, about two dozen sources, 
was pinpointed using other equipment in about an hour.
