Absolutely agree with David.  Null is the way to go.  A switchable
attenuator is very handy as you get closer to the source.  Remember that the
null is broadside to the loop...max signal is off the ends.

I would recommend a loop, and use the null, not the peak...  Much simpler to
get your headings that way.  See:
