This all depends on IF there really is something out there.
 
Think they said it’s 95 light years away.  So we send a “hello how are u”, 95 years from now *they* receive a “hello how are u” then spend large amount of time trying to figure out this new language and finally send back a message to us “we’re fine, how are you”  95 years later we receive it.  

95 light years is close to us, try doing this with a suspect planet 1000 light years away, or more.  

This is a futile endeavor.
