FYI -- my vintage Kenwood TF-F6A, which has wide-band RX, can be 
switched (menu function) between the SMA connector and an internal 
ferrite loopstick. The loopstick is the default below 10 MHz. I suspect 
other talkies with wideband RX also have this capability.
