Hi Dave,

I would suggest that your friend contact the manufacturer of the 
equipment in question, and ask about EMI issues, and/or, has testing 
been performed.

If it is medical equipment, it has probably been tested.  If it has not, 
then the manufacturer will be in the loop, and that may prove useful later.
