[RFI] Power Line Noise

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I have contacted a fellow ham who lives a mile of so from me and he has the same issue. He has been in contact with the utility, PECO, and gave me the guy's number, I called him this afternoon. They have been out "hunting" but so far have found nothing - looking for needle in a haystack - he tells me.

I do not have any portable equipment other then the Tiny SA that is coming (which I bought to tinker with). The only thing I can tell from my station is that the peak is just about North of me swinging the beam around. Strongest on 20 meters, CW portion. I can still hear it on 6 meters but not as strong.

Mike,

I will call you to discuss / pick your brain, (I see from your website you have dealt with PECO in the past).

I'll supply updates as I get them.

Thanks,
Tom

I just picked up this message on the thread and didn't see where it originated but the recording that I just played is most definitely power line noise. By that I mean it's being generated by your power electrical utility outside of your home. If you want to call me for further information or instructions or points to ponder just give me a call if I don't answer your call please leave your phone number. I'm on the phone a lot and traveling a lot. Best wishes

Yes, the RFI is related to the power grid, either in-house or somewhere else. Therefore, don't spend more time identifying what is causing the
interference, but go looking for it. Any more sleithing as to what is a
waste of time and effort.

As broadband as it is, I doubt it's a switcher, but more like a discharge on a line somewhere. But everything connected to the power grid is up for grabs.
