[RSM] Major Flare

Wow talk about your solar blackouts. Earlier this morning (Sunday Sept 10),
I had the rig set up for 17m monitoring FT8. The band was full of good
quality European and NA stations working each other. At 1551z there were at
least 9 QSO's in progress that I could see.

15:51:45 9 QSO's

15:52:00 4 QSO's

15:52:15 2 QSO's

15:53:30 1 QSO

Not another signal was received until 18:47:15 when N2RR was heard working a
VE7. The band slowly returned after that. It appears we had some large solar
activity. At 15:50 there was a strong x-ray emission followed by proton
stormin, a large flare and CME.

That is how quickly the band can go from great propagation to no
propagation.

I am sure our friend Jerry could give us a more detailed and accurate
timeline of what occurred.

Have a great week everyone!
