What a rush to hear 10 meters open!
A few good stories:
I forgot to tell Vlado - VE3KRV to get on and work me, so I was in a bit of
a panic. Needed VE3 on a bunch of places.
Bill - XT helped me out on CW on all bands - thanks Bill. VE3EJ showed up
on 10 CW, so I got to move him to SSB.
I needed VE3 on 160 meters SSB, and I worked a local - VE3RVA on 15. Asked
him "Can you do 160?"
"No antenna". Crap! So - a few minutes later, he calls me back, and says
"I rigged something up. Care to try?"
YES! Worked like a charm, and in the log he went.
Needed VE1 on 40 SSB, so I worked VE1OU on 20. "Can you do 40 SSB?"
"Don't have much of an antenna" I said "Don't worry about it. I will
swing the beam around, and in the log he went.
Glad I got Ed - VE4RAC to move a bunch of times for the extra points and
the mult on a number of bands.
I also worked N6RO a bunch of times, and kept hearing these BIG numbers
coming back - a lot of the time he was ahead of me on QSO numbers.
In the end, looks like I squeaked past him.
Over night, things were a bit slow, but once the sun came up and the bands
came to life, I picked up the pace and away we went :-)
A few times - on 40 and 80, I am running, then there a HUG pileup, but they
are not calling me. Took a minute or two to figure out they were calling
the KH1.
So - decided to run split, and two minutes later, he was in my person log
:-) Then - back to the contest. So - now have him on 3 bands :-)
What a blast!

Comments:
Happy Canada Day, and I think the best surprise was that 10 meters gave us a
nice opening!
Thanks for the QSO's.
