I just saw this from Gary, VA7RR/WA6VEF, posted on the NCCC reflector.

>      I would like to let everyone know that Niki Bloom, VE7NKI, my XYL
> and longtime out-of-territory NCCC member passed away on November
> 15^th after a six year battle with breast cancer.
>
>      Although not on the air in recent years, Niki served NCCC as
> co-Chairperson of the 1990 and 1991 California QSO Parties, and
> handled publicity for the contest a few years later.  She also worked
> on K3EST’s Technical Committee for the WRTC Championship that NCCC
> hosted in 1996.
>
>      Niki’s greatest contesting achievement was as an integral member
> of the 4-person team at P40V that finished first place overall in the
> Multi-Single category of the 1989 CQ Worldwide phone contest and set a
> new world record in the process.  She finished fourth place overall
> from outside California in the 1992 California QSO Party, was a part
> of two Top Ten multi-single finishes in the 1991 and 1992 ARRL 10
> Meter Contest, and captured first place in Canada, Single Band 10M, in
> CQWW phone in 1992.  She also landed in 3^rd place overall in the 1989
> Telephone Pioneer QSO Party, just slightly behind the #1 and #2
> finishes of contest veterans N7TT and VE7CC.
>
>      Niki came from a ham radio family.  Her mother, Louese Bloom,
> KA6ING (SK), was an NCCC member and served as the Club’s president in
> 1991-1992.  Her father, Larry, KD6XY (SK), was a Life Member of the
> Nor Cal DX Club and ran the DX Ladder for the Club for many years.

I extended both my and Shelley's condolences.

Jack, VE3RUA/K0JP
