Nice performance, Cary. I really appreciated the rare MB mult but even
without the amp you would have been loud. I heard you S&P and decided
to move up 5 or 10kHz and call CQ. It obviously worked and, much to my
surprise, in addition to working you, that little run produced 17 Qs and
two new mults (MB and SC) in 10 minutes. That is why I love NAQP because
against the big guns in normal contests I could never have found, much
less held, a run frequency even for 10 minutes on 40.
I am glad my assessment of 20 was right. It seemed pretty dismal with
guys like NR6O, K6MM, and AE6Y almost ESP levels. The east coast was
completely absent but 40 and 80 made up for that later. Even 160
produced some nice mults which helped my score measurably. Missing, for
some odd reason, were ME, DE and IA. DC and IA were heard S&P but never
worked. No ND although I had hoped K0IDX would have made an appearance
on 160. 15 was poor and sounded more like a 6-meter opening with only
six AB, OR, and MT worked and one strange Q with VE3JM. Overall the VE
participation was absent save for a ton of CCO folks.
All in all it was fun even though the first 2 hours were a real slog.
Going to 40 at 2100 seemed very weird but it worked out okay.

Jack VE3RUA/K0JP
