RSM extracts and addenda:
Thirty (!!!) Ontario QSOs. I hope they all remember me for RAC Canada
Day. Only a few other Canadians.
The pileup on VE4GV Saturday night was huge and unruly. I was wise enough
not to spend any time in it. Condx were good for me to MN, so I hoped that
maybe Rob or VE4VT might find me and call in. I was happy to learn from a
local after the contest that Ed was on.
Well, it did not happen -- or so I thought. I was chatting with VE4EA on
another Zoom forum Friday after the contest, and he mentioned two things.
First, he was the op when NO6T answered my CQ. Another advantage of
skimmer for us non-assisted op's -- Cary saw me spotted and was able to
copy enough to be sure it was K3KU.
Second, Cary told me that Ed had called me a few times, but could not get
through the pileup. Well, that's the two-edged sword of fresh-meat runs in
the mid-Atlantic states. Lots of loud nearby stations calling, and
moderate signal from MB can't get through. Too bad Ed didn't find me when
I did not have such a big pile up. That would have made the contest a
complete success.
I did not hear any of our friends from Saskatchewan. I heard one weak
unfamiliar VE5 S&P. No QSO for me.
The only Lower 48 that I missed were WA (that's a surprise) and ND -- not a
surprise, but I need to build better relations with KE0A :>)
Lots of fun. Less than five months to Canada Day; I'm already
daydreaming. Oh, Canada...
73, Art K3KU/VE4VTR
