Dear All

Good afternoon.  I am the program administrator of the DX Marathon
Program.  Over the past two years, we have been the fastest growing DX
program in our hobby having realized a +50% participation rate in each of
the years 2022-2023.  What is unique about our program is that it
encourages DX participation “all year long.”  We don’t consider ourselves a
contest although many of our participants do compete for beautiful
recognition plaques and electronically issued certificates of achievement.

The DX Marathon Program has been around a long time but it has had it’s ups
and downs over these years.  Originally, it was introduced and sponsored by
CQ Magazine.  Today, with the demise of CQ, we are autonomous and self
managing and supporting.  I have assembled 5 volunteer that administer the
program.  We have no expenses although I have an application in to register
us as a 501c3 organization.  Our costs are the plaque expenses we award to
participants.  Without the generous sponsorships, we would not have a
program!  Our contributors consist individuals, clubs, and organizations
like for example CWOps.  Our sponsors pay $100 to cover the cost of the
plaques that we issue.  Currently, we have sponsors that are listed on our
webpage that support 30 plaques.  The certificates are issued free and last
year we issued 130 certificates.  All the details of the awards can be

program can be found in an interview that I did with Tim Duffy at his

My purpose in writing you this note, is that our vision is to continue to
grow at a double digit participation rate over the new 3-5 years.  Our
recognition system has been in place without any real change for 17 years.
I am now reviewing this system, and am proposing, if we can raise funding,
an additional 20 plaques yielding a total plaque award of 50.  This
calculates in raising $2,000 through added sponsors.

I know how active your organization is in sponsoring and supporting many DX
peditions throughout the years.  Between now and September I am trying to
raise the additional funds to support an additional 20 plaques for the 2025
program.   The payment of the sponsorship fee would not occur until the
first quarter of 2026.  Many organizations like CWOps actually sponsor 4
plaques, highest CW score in the world, highest CW score in NA, highest CW
score in Europe, and highest CW score among member of CWOps.
