Tom, et al...

I'm responding to the reflectors because I have some answers to you that
others
may want to know. It's been nearly a year since I used a 570. I used one
in both
the 2000 CQWW RTTY and 2000 JARTS contests. So my recollections may be
a little sketchy.

One thing I remember for sure is that I could never figure out how to get
the RTTY
sidetone working while operated in FSK mode. I think it has been reported
that
it does not work. That's a shame because the 570 is a nice little rig for
RTTY.
However, I cannot recommend it as a main RTTY radio. Despite the fact that
the
250 hz filter works well in RTTY mode, this filter must be located somewhere
after
the AGC circuitry. Nearby signals will cause the S-meter to kick up and
will affect
reception.

I would highly recommend the TS870 over the TS570 as a main RTTY rig. I
currently own two TS870's and they are the best radios I've ever used on
RTTY.
The receiver is the quietest I've ever heard. Spend the extra money and get
the
'870. The '570 is OK for a 2nd rig. Just my opinion.

73, Don AA5AU

Hi RTTYGuys & Gals
What like to get some input on the listed Radio, Hows does it run with RTTY
&
CW, I gave up SSB long ago.

I know the 870 would be the best, but I dont want to dig a big hole.

Tnx for the band width.

Tom Wa8rpk
