Comments:
Haven't had so much fun since the Roundup in January. I
didn't get to Portland QTH until about 11pm local time Friday.
Found AH6OZ for the first QSO.
Saturday was spent working the usual suspects. Towards the
evening local time, 20m opened up to Europe, and it got
even better on 15m on Sunday morning; might be the best I
have seen Eu on 15m.
To cap it off, 10m had a beautiful opening to the Far East
for a couple of hours before the contest ended.
Funny incidents:
I worked 9M6US for the first time on Saturday on 15m, with
almost no one answering his CQs. When I found him on 10m the
next day, an hour before the end of the contest, it was a
completely different story; you would have thought he was moved
to P5-land or something. Come to think of it, the DS5RNM pile
was pretty vicious, too :-).
The funniest thing was that a few minutes after working him on
10m, I again came across him, way down in the band, around 28065
or so. There, he was CQ'ing with no takers. So, I took a little
time off and had a ragchew with him. He didn't want me to spot him
either. I gathered he'd rather have some peace and quiet.
At one point when working the Panama station, he was switching
between 3E1AA and HO1A, but finally told me I was in the log
and signed 3E1AA(!), so I am sticking with that. The judges
may not agree :-).
Made two 5-banders: K9NS and KI6DY.
5% CQ, 95% S&P, 100% fun. Thank you, everyone.
