I no longer get spam since downloading and installing 
MailWasher (www.mailwasher.com). It's a freebie for
the basic application. 

I use Outlook Express, but it will work with other brousers. 
It identifies spam or possible spam and you can read the e-mail
without opening it in your brouser. You can delete and bounce the 
message back to the originator.  It has a button to process the
mail you want to read in your brouser. Try it, you'll like it.
