Very much enjoyed last night's activity around 1805, as well as the good
chats we had, some spanning a few hours off and on again.
Vern, W9HLY, tried valiantly to copy my puny signal into Indiana on several
attempts before we finally completed a three-way quickie as he went out the
door for ice cream with granddaughter. Hope she gave you a well-deserved
big hug! May, WA1EHK, was a good solid 569 in multiple QSOs over the
evening, and we'll try for an "eyeball" at Boxboro later this month to
exchange QSL cards.
Astoundingly loud signals popped in from Claude, VE3WQ and Lloyd, W3NF. We
managed some nice conversation as well as exchanging 599s. 400 miles isn't
exactly DX, but it's nothing to sneeze at either with good quality signals.
Occasional static crashes, but tinkering with the MMTTY detector options and
narrowing the 870's IF to 250 hz made for "arm-chair copy. "
If this is what it's like in August, 160 would be well worth the effort in
mid-winter. I've already voted for including it in any future winter NAQP
activity, and hope we can keep 1800-1810 populated at other times. Let's
use it, folks!
Very 73, and see you in SARTG,
