He is sending his (your) serial number, the exchange. It is in alpha
because he is inadvertently using "unshift on space".

The easy fix is to use the "Northwest rule"; that is look at the number
keys on your keyboard that are northwest of the letters in question. For
example, PIT= 085, PIY= 086, etc.
