The K simply indicates that you are finished and it is the other station
time to transmit. In the heat of the battle ANY help is NICE. Like the DE
before a call sign. Also using your call to end a transmission helps the
S&P fellow to know if he wants to call you or not. Proper operating
procedure is a good thing to do.
